August Book Wrap

Hello Southernistas! I don’t know if I’ve shared with y’all that I love to read. I have had a love affair with books since my first book The Little Red Caboose. My favorite genre are mysteries to be more specific I love cozy mysteries. I am a sucker a great whodunit but I’m not a big fan of the gritty crime novels that would be my dear sweet mama. Cozy mysteries always happen in a small town, feature an amateur sleuth who usually works as a librarian or baker or some other field outside of law enforcement, there is no especially gory scenes, usually no profanity, and there is usually a love interest.

So I thought I would share with you books I read in August and hopefully this will either introduce you to new a new author/series or spark your interest in mysteries.

Mrs. Claus and the Santaland Slayings by Liz Ireland (4 stars)

I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a light and funny read. This is the first book in the Mrs. Claus series and I can’t wait for the second book in this series to come out at the end of this month. I mean who wouldn’t want to see what actually goes on in Santaland and how the new Mrs. Claus solves this murder. The author does a wonderful job with character development and world building Santaland.

The Rocky Road to Ruin (Ice Cream Shop Mystery) by Meri Allen (3 stars)
