Author Spotlight — V.M. Burns

Happy Friday y’all! I know it has been a long time since I did an author spotlight which I said I would do every Friday but you know….other stuff!

Moving on! Today I want to introduce y’all to V.M. Burns who also writes under Valerie Burns. She is the author of four cozy mystery series: Mystery Book Shop Mysteries set in MI, the Dog Club Mysteries set in TN, RJ Franklin Mysteries, and her newest cozy mystery series Baker Street Mysteries which is also set in MI. I’ve only read her Book Shop, Dog Club, and Baker Street mysteries and I plan to read the RJ Franklin mysteries but haven’t gotten a chance to…yet. You can’t go wrong with any of these mysteries but sadly she is no longer writing any new Dog Club mysteries or RJ Franklin mysteries.

I can guarantee you will be hooked after reading the first sentence. Ms. Burns novels are well written, fun and plot driven with well developed characters. Y’all Valerie can write a great mystery with just enough suspects and red herrings and her side characters are just as much fun to read as the main characters of her books.

I also love the fact that she is an African American writer but the characters in her Dog Club series are NPOC (Non People of Color) and are well written without any stereotypes or assumptions. They are also laugh out loud funny!
