Hello Southernistas! I know when this blog post it will be December 23rd so 2 days before Christmas and I just wanted to take up this little bit of space to wish you a Merry Christmas if you celebrate the holiday. I and my family do with lots of enthusiasm! For me Christmas is all about Jesus the reason we celebrate and I don’t get into great long debates about weather he was actually born on December 25th or not I just celebrate the King of Kings and Lord or Lords. I try really hard to never miss Jesus during this season of shopping, holiday specials, and all the commercialism that seems to turn some into Scrooge.

I remember that Jesus came so that we might live and to bring peace on Earth and goodwill to men. I’m also reminded that for many it can be a very lonely time of year and the suicides increase the most during this time of year so make sure you reach out to those you know may be spending Christmas alone. My mom has always had an open door policy during this season and has fed everyone who drops in maybe this can be a new tradition. Check your local colleges and universities if you live in a near one and invite a student into your home who either couldn’t make it home for the holidays because of the expense or they are from out of the country. This could be a great time to introduce to some great U.S. customs and traditions and perhaps learn some of theirs.
