My Favorite African American Mystery Authors

Hello to all my book lovers and friends! Well we are in the mist of February which is also known as Black History Month and I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite African American mystery authors.

I ask that you please respect this space and keep all negative comments to yourself. I try to keep my little space politics free and as an African American woman I am taking the time to celebrate my history which is American History!

With that being said these are are authors that I have read or looking forward to reading. Also these are mystery authors only! I have done a blog post of African American writers across genres before and you can check that post out here and here.

Sandra Jackson-Opoku is the author of several novels but this is her first mystery and I can’t wait to read this first book in what hopefully becomes a series but it looks like it may be a standalone

Barbara Neeley who has sadly passed away was the author of the Blanche White mystery series and sadly there are only 4 books in this really delightful series that features plus size housekeeper and sleuth Blanche
